Job Description
Mission:
Art With Elders (AWE) engages Bay Area seniors in fine arts classes with a view to exhibiting their work. Classes operate as lifelong learning, social interaction, and artistic development. They are also artists’ workshops, as they are the only place most AWE participants can create art. Exhibits connect isolated older adults with the general public by showing their work in public spaces, their living facilities and in online exhibits.
Organizational Background:
AWE is a creative, energetic and effective San Francisco Bay Area non-profit using the power of art, creativity, and community to enrich the journey of aging. A small, dedicated team and an active Board of Directors work together to raise funds and community visibility. Our teachers are all professional working artists, who teach at our 40 partner facilities in eight Bay Area counties to deliver 58 different classes in addition to a burgeoning on-line service that evolved at the beginning of the Pandemic and continues to grow and thrive, even as in-person classes resume.

The successful candidate will have:
• Three years proven successful development writing experience
• Excellent grant prospecting capabilities
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and in person
• The ability to multi task and be flexible
• Fastidious attention to detail
• Ability to work easily with a variety of colleagues and partners
• Knowledge of the Bay Area philanthropic foundation, government and
corporate communities a plus as is an understanding and appreciation
for visual art and the importance of creativity as the population ages
